Crusher, boulder industries asked to abide by new set of rules

KAVREPALANCHOWK: The crusher industries in Kavre district run for years illegally were monitored thrice a year.

During that time, the district-level monitoring team used to ask the crusher industries to collect the legal documents in three days and meet the standards.

But now the District Coordination Committee decided to conduct the monitoring if the industries met the standards in the given deadline for their relocation.

The job of report preparation by the monitoring committee and consultation with the stakeholders over the issue is halted for a year on.

The committee had monitored the sand, boulders and other mine extracting industries in February last time.

Chief of District Coordination Committee Uddhab KC said that the mining industries would be monitored only after the completion of deadline given for their transfer and other processes after the endorsement of the new standard.

“All crusher industries should opt for the new standards. The concerned local level can write to the line agencies for annulment of their registration if they don’t abide by the new provisions,” he added.

He shared that there are a total of 31 crusher industries and some three dozen boulder mining industries in the district.

KC was of the view that the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment would be given the report while the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) would be informed about the report after the monitoring from this year. RSS
