Five die from COVID-19 in Lalitpur, Kavre, Kaski and Banke



KATHMANDU:  Five people have died from coronavirus in Lalitpur, Kavre, Banke and Kaski districts.

A 37-year-old man from Nawalparasi has died while undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital.

According to the hospital administration, the coronavirus infected patient, who was being treated on ventilator since August 14, succumbed to the virus this morning.

A 50-year-old woman from Byas-1, Tanahun died in the course of treatment at Kaski Sewa Hospital in Pokhara on Monday night.

The patient was admitted to the hospital on August 16. She was suffering from sugar, pneumonia and blood pressure. Her swab sample report had come positive for the coronavirus, said the hospital.

Similarly, an 87-year-old man succumbed to the coronavirus while undergoing treatment at Pokhara Academy of Health Science at 10:30 am today, said Dr Arjun Acharya, the director at the Academy.

According to Acharya, the octogenarian had been admitted to the hospital on August 16 after he complained of respiratory complications.

After coronavirus infection was confirmed in him, he was shifted to COVID-19 Treatment Center on Monday. Beside coronavirus, the elderly was also suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, said the hospital.

Likewise, a 98-year-old man died while undergoing treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital this morning, informed Chief District Officer of Kavre Shrawan Kumar Timalsina.

He was confirmed to have been infected with the virus during PCR tests at the hospital on August 11. He was suffering from diabetes and asthma, according to the hospital.

Similarly, a 62-year-old man from Nepalgunj Sub metropolitan City-5 passed away in the course of treatment at Nepal Medical College in Banke district on Monday night.

According to District Corona Focal Person Naresh Shrestha, the deceased’s PCR test report came out positive on Monday.

On August 16, he had been admitted to the hospital after showing symptoms similar to the coronavirus.

Pneumonia was detected in his lung and died after his condition deteriorated, Shrestha added.
