Panchthar free from COVID-19 with full recovery cases



PANCHTHAR: All positive cases of coronavirus confirmed so far in Panchthar, the eastern hilly district in State1, have restored their normal health. With this, the district has been free from the infections.

Earlier, four returnees from abroad were diagnosed with the infection. They all were brought homes from Gulf-countries with the support of government and staying in Phidim-based quarantine.

The infections were confirmed on one female and three males who have already returned home beating the virus. Now, the number of people in quarantine centers here on Friday was zero.

The district reported the first case of COVID-19 on May 16 with the 25-year-old woman of Yangwarak Rural Municipality confirmed to have carrying the virus. She was a migrant worker in Kuwait and returned home on May 12 with the support of the government. She was recovered two weeks ago and went home.

The virus was seen on different dates on a 28-year-male of Hilihang Rural Municipality who had arrived from the Saudi Arabia, a 23-year-old male of Yangwarak Rural Municipality returned home from the United Arab Emirates and a 32-year-old male of Tubewa brought from Qatar.

Among them, the second infected was sent to the Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar and remaining two to the COVID-19 special hospital, Gothgaun. According to Public Health Office, Panchthar’s chief Narad Subedi, the latest test reports of all the three were negative.

The District Administration Office said all the positive cases have recovered and all those in quarantine facilities sent to home after the testing of throat swab samples.

According to Assistant Chief District Hospital, Narayan Neupane, all 42 COVID-19 quarantine centers having 772 beds in total and a 36-bed isolation chamber in the district were turned empty on Friday.

A total of 779 swab samples were tested while 2,203 underwent tests through RDT procedures.
