National Assembly unanimously endorses 2nd Constitution Amendment Bill



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the National Assembly has unanimously endorsed the 2nd Constitution Amendment Bill, 2077 to implement the new map incorporating Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, and Lipu Lekh today on Thursday.

National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina has announced that the Bill has been unanimously endorsed by the National Assembly today.

Of the total 58 lawmakers in the NA, 57 have voted in favor of the 2nd Constitution Amendment Bill while remaining one is the chairman himself.

Two thirds majority is required to endorse the Bill. The House of Representatives (HoR) has already endorsed the Constitution amendment bill to change the coat of arms.

The amendment bill was tabled in the NA on Sunday.

Law Minister Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe presented the constitution amendment bill for endorsement after clause-wise discussion today.

With the endorsement of the Bill, the NA will now inform the HoR and the Speaker will send it to President Bidya Devi Bhandari for authentication.

One the Bill is authenticated by the President, the new map will be included in the coat of arms of the Constitution.
