Nepali stranded along borders to be immediately rescued



BHADRAPUR: Province-1 Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hikmat Karki said the Nepali nationals stranded along the Nepal-India borders would be immediately rescued and brought home.

At a meeting of Jhapa district corona prevention committee on Saturday, he directed the local governments to arrange a well-appointed holding center and quarantine facilities for those rescued and brought to Nepal.

Minister Karki further said as many as 1,000 stranded Nepali would be repatriated through Kakadbhitta, Bhadrapur, Gaurigunj, Taghandubba and Kachankawal checkpoints of Jhapa within a couple of days and the number of returnees would gradually increase up to 20,000.

The minister informed that both Nepal and Indian governments are holding a discussion on the particular matter and the citizens of the respective nations would be rescued and managed.

“We have drawn the attention of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister”, Province-1 Minister Karki added.
