Energy secretaries discuss COVID-19 impact on energy sector



KATHMANDU: Energy secretaries of Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and India have discussed the impact of novel coronavirus pandemic on the energy sector of the region.

The secretaries held an online meeting and discussed the impact on energy sector.

Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Nepal’s Energy Secretary, informed that the discussions basically focused on the balance between demand and supply of electricity, under-construction hydropower projects, among others.

Nepal’s Secretary Ghimire, during the discussion, proposed the formation of a joint company to construct the Butwal-Gorakhpur 400 KV transmission line between Nepal and India.
