Senior cinematographer Baikuntha Maskey succumbs to COVID-19



KATHMANDU: The first cinematographer of Nepali Film, Baikuntha Maskey has passed away due to the coronavirus on Friday. 83-year-old Maskey is the first man from Nepal’s film industry to die of the pandemic.

Maskey had been a kidney patient for the last 7 years.

He has shown his master as a cinematographer in more than 2 dozen films including ‘Man ko Bandh’, ‘Pachchis
Basanta’, ‘Parivartan’, and ‘Hijo Aaja Bholi’ among others.

He was admitted at Pulchowk based Nidan Hospital after finding coronavirus positive on Sunday.

His dead body has been cremated at an electric crematorium under the supervision of the Nepal Army.

Maskey is survived by his wife and one daughter.
