Long-haul public transport service resumes



KATHMANDU: Long-haul public transport service has resumed from today.

A meeting of the transport entrepreneurs and workers had on Wednesday decided to resume the service from Wednesday.

The service was suspended since the last week of March amid fears of coronavirus pandemic.

The government had recently decided to resume long-haul transport service from Thursday by maintaining safety measures.

Transport entrepreneurs had demanded that the health standard set by the government be maintained.

They have also demanded with the government to set up a monitoring mechanism to see if the protocols are implemented.

What needs to be followed:

Health essentials: Masks, sanitizers, gloves and face visor for workers

Fifty percent passengers on vehicles

Face mask, social distancing for passengers

Hand sanitizers for passengers while getting on the vehicles

Insurance coverage of the workers
