Pokhara metropolis likely to be sealed for a week



POKHARA: With the surge of COVID-19 cases, of late, an all-party meeting held in Pokhara Metropolitan City on Sunday suggested a one-week lockdown in the metropolis to stem coronavirus cases.

Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Manbahalur GC confirmed that the entire metropolis will be sealed for a week. He informed that all services except for emergency will be suspended.

“We are planning to seal the entire metropolis, shutting down all services except the essential ones,” he said.

According to Mayor GC, even if the public transport is halted, the transportation of essential services will not be stopped. Mayor GC informed that the decision was taken following a discussion with the political parties to curb the pandemic.

The metropolis has already recommended to the district administration office for the lockdown.

However, Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Kaski, Gyan Prasad Dhakal said that the recommendation made by the metropolis is yet to be received.

He said that the decision will be taken following discussions with experts after receiving the recommendation from the metropolis.
