NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the sacrifice of 20 Indian Army soldiers, who were killed during a violent clash with Chinese soldiers at Galwan Valley in Ladakh, will never go in vain.

Prime Minister Modi assured the nation that the soldiers’ sacrifice will not be in vain.

“India wants peace,” he said adding, “But it is capable to give a befitting reply if instigated.”

He gave the assurance during a virtual meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of 15 states and union territories.

They observed a two-minute silence as a tribute to those who lost their lives during clash.

Likewise, the situation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) still remains tense.

As many as 20 Indian Army personnel, including a Colonel, were killed in the clash in the Galwan Valley on Monday night.

This has been considered as the biggest military confrontation in more than four decades.

This time’s face-off was the largest confrontation between the two armies after their 1967 clashes in Nathu La when India had lost some 80 soldiers in the face-off.
