Parsa administration rolls back decision to shoot fleeing patients

BIRGUNJ: Parsa administration has retreated from its decision to empower the police to shoot the person if they flee from the isolation ward.

According to Assistant Chief District Administration of Parsa, citing that the decision could be misinterpreted, the Crisis Management Center’s meeting decided to amend its earlier decision.

The meeting of District Crisis Management Center held under the chairpersonship of Chief District Officer Bishnu Kumar Karki, had decided to empower the security forces and permit them to use coercive measures like firing if anyone in the quarantine flees.

However, after wide criticism against the decision, the Friday evening’s meeting of District Crisis Management Committee amended the previous decision and instructed the security forces to take the persons under control using force provided they defy the mandatory quarantine provision or run away from such shelters.
