KATHMANDU: Preparations are underway to test 175 Nepalis airlifted to Nepal from China’s Hubei for coronavirus.

They have been currently being quarantined at the training center of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in Kharipati, Bhaktapur.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, their samples will be tested for coronavirus within 24 hours of their arrival at the quarantine.

A technical team from National Public Health Laboratory will collect swab samples of the evacuees and tested at the laboratory, according to Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry, Sagar Dahal.

“If someone is tested positive for corona, they will be taken to hospital for treatment,” Dahal told Khabahrub.

Their swab samples will be tested again two weeks later and allowed to return home only if they test negative.
Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, all the 175 underwent a health check-up before they were transported via four buses to Kharipati.

The men, women and the medical teams have been separated into three different buildings inside the training center. One room includes at least two to three beds at a distance of at least one meter, including an intercom telephone facility.

They will be continuously monitored during their stay at the quarantine and will be shifted to the Shukraraj hospital or Patan or Armed Police hospital in case they are suspected of carrying the coronavirus.

The people in the quarantine will not be allowed to meet with their family members or outsiders.
Around-the-clock joint security provision has been made, with the control room overseeing the center.

The security team is also working to spread awareness in and around the vicinity to quell any misconceptions about the quarantine.
