Arrest warrant issued against four sugar mills operators



KATHMANDU: Police have issued arrest warrants against four sugar mills operators for failing to pay the sugarcane farmers, who are agitating in Kathmandu.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said that the concerned district police have issued arrest warrants against operators of Annapurna Sugar Mill, Indira Sugar Mill, Lumbini Sugar Mill and Shree Ram Sugar Mill.

The Home Ministry had on Tuesday decided to take action against the operators of the mills not paying money to the farmers.

The Rautahat District Police Office has issued arrest warrant against Bishal Agrawal, Hitesh Golchha, and Anuj Agrawal — operators of Shree Ram Sugar Mill.

Likewise, the Nawalparasi District Police Office has issued an arrest warrant against Rakesh Agrawal, operator of the Annapurna Sugar Mills and Indira Sugar Mills in Nawalparasi.

Likewise arrest warrant has also been issued to Sushila Goyal, operator of Lumbini Sugar Mill.

As many as 300 sugarcane farmers have been staging a sit-in protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu since Sunday to exert pressure on the government to get their payments of their produce.
