COVID-19: Darchula enforces prohibitory order, Baitadi goes under lockdown

DHANGADHI: Two districts of Sudurpaschim Province Darchula and Baitadi have reinforced strict measures the prohibitory order and lockdown to control the coronavirus pandemic.

Ward Nos. 4 and 5 of Mahakali Municipality have issued prohibitory order in the area as per the Local Governance Act, 1971 and Infectious Disease Act, 2020.

The Municipality which consists of the district headquarters as well found 39 coronavirus positive cases when 72 samples based on contract tracing were testing on Thursday.

According to Jyotsna Bhatta, the Chief District Officer of Darchula, the prohibitory orders which restrict the movement of the people as well are effective from Thursday evening till further notice.

All services except the hospitals, medical shops are stalled from October 18.

The number of coronavirus cases in Darchula has become 191 now out of which 98 have been discharged after recovery.

Similarly, Baitadi District Administration Office has decided to enforce partial lockdown citing the possibility of explosive spread of the pandemic provided the infection spread in and via crowd in the holy shrines during the festive season.

According to Mohan Raj Joshi, the Chief District Officer of Baitadi district, the district has seen 449 cases of coronavirus till date out of which 411 have recovered and 1 has succumbed to COVID-19 death.

There are 37 active cases of coronavirus in Baitadi at present.
