NC dismisses bargaining allegation for political appointments

KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has dismissed allegations that the party was bargaining for key appointments in the constitutional bodies.

NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that party has neither applied with anyone for appointments nor demanded shares in the constitutional bodies.

He also dismissed claims that NC was responsible for the delay in the appointments in the constitutional bodies.

“Yes, there vacancies in the constitutional bodies, and universities,” he said adding, “There are some provinces which are yet to be named.”

“How could someone blame the opposition party for the failure to make decisions,” he queried reiterating that his party has not filed any applications seeking appointments.

Sharma also clarified that NC was not creating any obstacles in the political appointments.

He said the government’s priority as of now should be to control the coronavirus pandemic, not just filling the vacant positions.

He said there are numerous things to do such as repairing the ventilators in hospitals, rescuing Nepali people stranded abroad, among others.
