NCP leaders want Secretariat to formalize six-member taskforce

KATHMANDU: Voices are being raised within the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on empowering the six-member taskforce formed to resolve the intra-party disputes.

It may be noted that NCP Chairman duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal and KP Oli, who is also the Prime Minister, had formed a taskforce headed by party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel to narrow down the rift that has surfaced in the party of late.

Members of the task force include Shankar Pokharel, Bhim Rawal, Janardan Sharma, Surendra Pandey and Pampha Bhusal.

The task force has been entrusted to draft the framework of an agreement at the earliest.

NCP senior leaders opine that either the Secretariat or any party committee has to formalize the decision of entrusting the taskforce with the responsibility of resolving the party disputes claiming that two Chairmen do not have the authority to do so.

It has been learned that the NCP is most probably holding its Secretariat meeting on Monday to discuss the intra-party wrangling.

Meanwhile, NCP senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal along with party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha met Dahal and said that the Secretariat should form the taskforce.

The task force, meanwhile, has already held its first meeting on Saturday.
