Public vehicles plying valley routes increase from today

KATHMANDU: Public vehicles have started plying the roads in the Kathmandu Valley almost after three and a half months.

With the government’s decision to run short-route public vehicles last Thursday, public transport entrepreneurs have brought their vehicles into operation.

Currently, Mayur Yatayat, Samyukta Yatayat, Juneli Yatayat and Sundar Yatayat are providing transport services since the last few days.

Similarly, Baba Gokarneshwor Yatayat and Sajha Yatayat have started operating their vehicles on limited routes from today.

Sundar Yatayat is operating two vehicles along Suryabinayak-Koteshwor-Baneshwor-Bir Hospital-Jamal-Ring Road since Tuesday, said Bhesh Bahadur Thapa, chairman of the company.

All the safety measures have been adopted including maintaining social distance, availability of sanitizer and arrangement of masks for senior citizens, said Thapa.

Similarly, the driver is provided with a PPE set, separate sanitizer, mask and the bus is disinfected every time after completing a round trip, Thapa added.

Likewise, Mayur Yatayat that resumed public transport services since last Monday is making preparations to operate all its 44 buses.

Currently, 13 buses are in operation. They ply the routes in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
