KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has withdrawn from the Bagmati Provincial Government, marking a new political development in the province.
According to Jagannath Thapaliya, leader of the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party in Bagmati Province, the party formally exited the provincial government on Tuesday.
Thapaliya said the UML ministers serving in the provincial cabinet will submit their resignations on Wednesday.
He also said efforts would be made to form a new provincial government through cooperation among like-minded political forces.
Claiming that the UML is likely to partner with the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Thapaliya said discussions on power-sharing are moving forward.
Earlier on Tuesday, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and NCP Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal held talks at Oli’s residence, where they discussed possible cooperation and the evolving political situation.
