LAHAN: The Ramkumar Uma Prasad Memorial Hospital in Lahan of Siraha is going to be developed into a Corona Special Hospital as the coronavirus cases are increasing in State 2.
Siraha is one among the eight districts of the State 2.
Preparations are going on to operate the 50-bed health facility into the corona hospital, it is said.
Lately, COVID-19 has been detected in all districts beside Siraha in the State 2. Earlier, the State 2 government had decided to transform the hospital into the corona facility.
According to the State 2 government spokesperson and minister for internal affairs and law, Gyanendra Kumar Yadav, now Saptari and Siraha districts fall under a high risk zone of coronavirus infections so it has been decided to manage the corona treatment facility in Siraha.
Besides, the State government has decided to add a three-bed isolation ward in each district.
Two days ago a team from the social development ministry made a field inspection of the hospital and discussed about challenges and opportunities for the establishment of corona facility.
Hospital medical superintendent Dr Sunil Kumar Kushahawa said, the team had asked the hospital to make preparations towards that end, promising to ensure required physical infrastructure and send human resources soon.
Similarly, the Lahan-based JS Murarka Campus is to be developed into a 300-bed quarantine center.
The District Security Committee took a decision to this effect bearing in mind the rising trend of Nepalis returning homes from India amidst lockdown, said Siraha Chief District Officer Saroj Prasad Guragain.
