KATHMANDU: The Sajha Party has demanded the government to erect barbed-wire fences along the Nepal-India border.

The party made the demand to put barbed-wire fence amid the construction and inauguration of the link road constructed by India to Mansarovar of China through Nepali territory of Lipu Lekh.

In a statement today, the Sajha Party has demanded to open only some border points between Nepal and India by maintaining proper documentation.

It has stressed on installing barbed-wire fences in rest of the border areas without putting the people living in the area in any difficulty.

The party has also demanded the government to regulate the border by making the use of citizenship card, passport, or other identity cards, which the party says will be in the long-term interest of both the countries.

Sajha Party has also urged the government of Nepal to hold talks with India on the issue both at the diplomatic and political level.

It has asked the government to unilaterally start installing barbed-wire fences in the border areas if there is any delay in the talks.
