Devotees throng Devghat to observe Maghe Sankranti

CHITWAN: Hindu devotees have thronged Devghat, a holy place, to observe Maghe Sankranti festival in the district.

Devotees from far and near participated in religious hymns performed at Beni of Devghat by lighting oil lamps throughout the night and are taking holy dips this morning.

The festival which falls on the first day of the Nepali month Magh heralds the end of winter as the sun gradually surges towards the northern hemisphere.

The festival is observed throughout the country by taking holy dips in rivers and ponds, worshiping at various temples and savoring various delicacies like ghee, yam, khichadi and Chaku.
