Deuba terms Constitutional Council ordinance undemocratic

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has termed that the ordinance on the Constitutional Council brought by the government undemocratic.

Deuba accused it as an authoritarian move of the government, adding that the main opposition was dissatisfied with the ordinance.

“It is ridiculous to say that the quorum has not been reached without trusting a dignified personality like the Speaker and leaving the post of Deputy Speaker vacant. It is undemocratic to bring an ordinance on the Constitutional Council by bypassing the Parliament. It has made totalitarian thinking even clearer. The Nepali Congress has a clear dissatisfaction with this.”
