Govt decides to arrest industrialists not paying to sugarcane farmers



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to arrest sugarcane industrialists for not paying the due amount to sugarcane farmers.

A meeting chaired by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ at the Ministry on Tuesday decided to arrest the industrialists.

The meeting was also attended by Agriculture Minister Ghanshyam Bhushal, Commerce and Supplies Minister Lekhraj Bhatt, and Federal Affairs and Local Development Minister Hridayesh Tripathi, secretaries of the concerned ministries, and an AIG of Nepal Police.

Sugarcane farmers have been agitating at Maitighar in Kathmandu since Sunday after the sugar industries failed to pay their dues on time.
