Man succumbs to coronavirus in Birgunj, Nepal’s death toll hits 103

BIRGUNJ: COVID-19 hotspot Birgunj has reported another death from the pandemic on Saturday taking Nepal’s death toll to 103.

According to Coordinator of Narayani Hospital Dr. Uday Narayan Singh, a 47-year-old man from Atharaha in Birgunj succumbed to the coronavirus while being taken to hospital.

Dr. Singh said that the man was brought to the hospital by his relatives at around 7 am this morning only after his health condition became critical although he had shown symptoms similar to the coronavirus a week ago.

Dr. Singh stated that the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, adding that his swab sample was collected and the result came positive for the coronavirus.

Nepal’s death toll from the coronavirus had reached 102 Saturday afternoon after three deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that one each from Kapilvastu, Parsa and Dhanusha have died of the coronavirus.

Nine people have died of the coronavirus in Province 1, 45 in Province 2 and 18 in Bagmati Province, six in Gandaki Province, 13 in Province 5, four in Karnali Province and eight in Sudurpaschim Province so far.

Nepal confirmed 468 new cases in the last 24 hours that took the national tally to 26,019.

Meanwhile, as many as 17,201 have recovered across the country so far after 124 discharged from hospitals and isolation centers in the last 24 hours, he shared.
