Six-year-old undergoing treatment at TUTH tests positive for COVID-19

KATHMANDU: A six-year-old, who is undergoing treatment at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), was tested positive for coronavirus.

She is the youngest one to be treated for coronavirus in Kathmandu.

The hospital is yet to formally informally about the treatment of the six-year-old girl, who has been brought to Kathmandu from Kapilvastu six days ago.

She has been shifted at the hospital’s isolation ward from the neuro ward.

Hospital sources said that the administration is preparing to ‘seal’ the hospital’s neuro ward.

Director at TUTH, Dr Prem Bahadur Khadga, too, has confirmed the treatment of the six-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, the contact tracing of the nurses, doctors and others who have had come into contact with the child, has begun, Dr Basu Dev Pandey, Chief of the epidemiology and disease control division, TUTH, said.

According to Dr Pandey, people coming into contact with the child will be kept in quarantine.
