Rain, snowfall forecast in western region

KATHMANDU: Some places in the high hilly and mountainous areas in the western part of the country will likely get light to moderate rain and snowfall due to the influence of the Westerly low-pressure system, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said the westerly low-pressure system entered the western region of the country since Monday will cause light to moderate precipitation in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the western region of the country.

“The influence of this new weather system will remain in the western region until the evening today. The weather will gradually start improving from tomorrow,” she added.

The weather is generally cloudy in the western region and light rain and snowfall is taking place in most of the places in the high hilly area of the Far-west region at present.

The Division states that light rain will likely occur in one or two places of the western region and light snowfall in some places in the high hilly and mountainous region of the western part of the country tonight.

The weather will be partly cloudy in the hilly region and generally fair in the rest of the country tomorrow.

On Thursday there is the possibility of light rain in one or two places in the western region as well as light to moderate snowfall in some places of the high hilly and mountainous region of the western part of the country.

As per the latest weather bulletin published by the Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley today was 4.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 19.7 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Dang, Dipayal and Nepalgunj has dropped to below freezing point in the minus.
