Ramechhap’s Likhu rural municipality Chair arrested for abduction

RAMECHHAP: Chairman of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality of Ramechhap Govinda Khadka has been arrested on charges of abduction and hostage-taking.

A team of District Police Office Ramechhap arrested Khadka from his house on Friday on the basis of a complaint of coercion and deception.

He has been alleged of swindling a person by forcing him to sign on a cheque, according to Ramechhap Police Chief DSP Basanta Pathak.

Khadka has remained a controversial figure in the rural municipality.

Khadka, who was elected as the Chairman from the then UML, was suspended from all responsibilities including the district member of the party last year saying that he was moving against the party’s policy and people’s sentiments.
