At least three die, six missing in Parbat landslide



KUSMA: At least three people have been killed in a landslide at Dhakalbari of Durlung in Kushma Municipality-3 of Parbat district on Saturday night.

Six others have gone missing in the mudslide.

The bodies of Tul Bahadur Thapa, 58, his wife Meenkumari Thapa and granddaughter Bibisha Thapa were found buried in a landslide triggered by torrential rains for about two hours on Saturday.

Three others at Thapa’s house and three at Kamala BK’s house have gone missing. Among the missing are Samrat Thapa, Deepa Thapa, Vivek Thapa, Kamala BK, Janice BK and Pramisa BK.

According to the District Police Office, Parbat, a search is on for those missing using an excavator.

Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals were deployed for rescue soon after the landslide. The bodies of the three were found during a search by locals and security personnel, said Buddhi Subedi, Inspector at the District Police Office, Parbat.
