BHAKTAPUR:  27-year-old security person and 25-year-old nurse infected with coronavirus in Bhaktapur were learned to have arrived in the Kathmandu Valley during lockdown via an eastern entry point.

Both of them were out of Kathmandu Valley before the lockdown was ordered on March 24. They entered the Valley via Kavrepalanchowk and Sanga, the border point of Bhaktapur.

The security person working in the Armed Police Force had returned from his home at Ramechhap district a few days ago. According to Bhaktapur’s Chief District Officer, Humkala Pandey, the infected security person was staying at Duwakot in Changunarayan Municipality in a rented place.

His throat and nasal swabs were collected at the Armed Police Force Hospital and were tested in the National Public Health Laboratory where he was tested positive for the virus.

He has been undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of Teku Hospital since Tuesday, according to CDO Pandey. A team of Metropolitan Police Range has been tracking contacts of the infected ones to conduct the COVID-19 test on the suspected ones, informed Superintendent of Police, Sabin Pradhan.

Likewise, a 25-year-old infected lady who arrived in Kathmandu from Sunsari district on May 11 in a motorcycle with a male friend with vehicle pass has also been kept in isolation for treatment.

The lady who originally hails from Ramdhuni Municipality of Sunsari had been temporarily staying at Sallaghari, Bhaktapur. She had directly gone to a friend’s place at Shankhadharchowk in Bhaktapur upon her arrival to the Valley.

The infected nurse works at Arogya Foundation’s Nidan Hospital in Lalitpur. Suspected to have contracted the infection in Sunsari, police have been tracking her contacts. She had reached the National Public Health Laboratory in Teku herself to conduct a test on her through PCR procedure.

Police have sealed off the places where the two infected persons were staying, informed SP Pradhan. The house in Duwakot and Shankhadharchowk have been sealed off to prevent further infection.

The nasal and throat swabs of the infected security person’s family members and the infected lady’s friends have been collected and sent for the test.
