KATHMANDU: Local administration in Kanchanpur has brought back around 240 Nepalis, coming from India, stranded at the no-man’s-land at Bramhadev in Kanchanpur district in the last two days.
They have been kept in quarantine at the Mahendranagar-based Baijanath Secondary School.
According to SP Bir Bahadur Sahu at the Armed Police Force 35 No Battalion in Jhalari, the Nepalis were brought to the border area by Indian security forces.
The rapid test reports of most of the Nepalis in quarantine have tested negative, according to Nurahari Khatiwada, the Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur district.
He said that tests of seven others are yet to be done due to the lack of rapid diagnostic test kits.
CDO Khatiwada said that their swabs will be collected and sent to Dhangadhi for testing through PRC method.
Local authorities in the district are setting up quarantine facilities in different places to keep Nepalis coming from across the border.
