Province-2 govt to provide Rs 500,000 to Dilip Mahato’s family

DHANUSHA: The Province-2 government has decided to provide relief assistance of Rs 500 thousand to the family of Dilip Mahato.

Mahato, a resident of Shreepur, Mithila municipality-5, is a campaign activist against the excessive sand and gravel mining in the riverbed and banks.

Police said he died in a road accident on Friday.

But the locals and Mahato’s kith and kin allege that he was killed by the people involved in the aggregate mining business in course of protesting against their rampant aggregate mining business.

Province-2 government minister for internal affairs and law, Gyanendra Kumar Yadav said a meeting of the Province government council of ministers this morning decided to give the relief amount to the Mahato’s family.

Chief attorney of Province-2 government Dipendra Jha said the Province government was taking initiatives for taking stern action against those accused in Mahato’s killing.

He said a draft of the State-2 Environmental Law has been prepared which will check the over-exploitation of the Chure region due to aggregate mining and crusher industries.
