21 pairs of bulls to lock horns at Nuwakot’s Taruka

NUWAKOT: Nuwakot is all set to host a bull-fighting festival at Taruka village in the district to observe Maghe Sankranti.

To be held on January 15 at Tarkeshwar Rural Municipality-3, 21 pairs of oxen will be locking horns in the ancient festival to entertain spectators.

According to Bhoj Bahadur Bhandari, chairman of Maghe Sankranti Bull-fighting Conservation Association, the owners of the successful oxen will be awarded with a cash prize along with certificates.

Apart from Taruka village, the bulling-fighting will also take place at Betrawati, Panchakanya, Ghale Bhanjyang, Satbise, Kattichhap on Makar Sankranti that heralds the end of winter.
