Seven killed in landslides in Tanahun



TANAHUN: Seven people have been killed after being buried in landslides in Tanahun district on Monday.

Four persons including three members of a same family died when a landslide swept away a house at Majhaphanta of Byas municipality-9, said the police.

The deceased have been identified as Kamala Thapa, 40, her son Manoj, 24, and daughter Anjana, 21, and one Maita Kumari Gharti, 70.

Similarly, a landslip buried a house at Paltyang in Rishing-8, killing three, said Superintendent of Police Arun Poudel.

The dead have been identified as Bhesh Bahadur Thapa, 30, and Manisara Thapa, 19. Likewise, Laxmi BK, 17, of Belautidanga in Myagde-6 injured in the disaster died at Ratnahari Hospital in Damauli, he said.

A search has been launched for the missing ones–Rajesh Thapa of Majhaphanta, Nanu Maya Thapa of Rishing-8, five-year-old Amisha Thapa, Mahadev Thapa and Padam Bahadur Bhujel, 45, of Byas-11–with the help of Nepalese Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.

The injured–Jyoti Maya Thapa, 60, and Keshab Thapa, 50, are receiving treatment in Pokhara and Jhanu Maya Kunwar in Damauli, said the police.
