KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah has expressed sorrow over the loss of life and property due to natural calamities across the country.
A statement issued by the former King on Monday said that he was saddened by the loss of the lives of many Nepalis in the disaster.
“I am deeply saddened that many people have lost their lives, been injured, lost their homes, cowsheds and property due to floods, landslides and inundation in various parts of the mountains, hills and Terai,” he said in the statement.
In his statement, he added that there should be relief, rescue and treatment for all in this state of grief, bereavement, pain and suffering.
Wishing that the people would be able to breathe a sigh of relief from the calamities and sufferings caused by the adverse weather conditions, the former King expressed his condolences to all the bereaved families.
The incessant rainfall-triggered landslides and floods have killed as many as 85 persons and 46 are missing across the country in the last one month.
