89 Nepalis die in UAE in past four months



DUBAI: As many as 89 Nepalis have lost their lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the last four months.

Coronavirus alone has killed 29 Nepali migrant workers in the UAE during the lockdown period that started on March 22.

According to the Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi, one woman and 28 men died due to coronavirus infection.

A total of 71 bodies, including 29 from coronavirus and 42 from other causes, have been buried in the UAE. The body was buried in the UAE with the coordination of the local administration following the approval of the family in Nepal on the recommendation of the Nepal’s Embassy.

Of the remaining 18 bodies, 11 have been sent back to Nepal while the bodies of seven people have been kept in the morgues of various hospitals in the UAE.

The embassy said that there was a problem in sending the bodies to Nepal due to lack of regular flights and various other reasons.
