RAJAPUR: Despite sealing the Indo-Nepal border, many migrant labors are tiptoeing to Nepal from Bardiya area taking advantage of the open border.
Although both Nepal and India have locked the border and enforced lockdown in both countries to prevent movement of the people during coronavirus pandemic, several people are taking advantage of the porous border and entering Nepal from many places.
On the very day, an 11-year-old girl was tested positive in Rajapur Bardiya, many people have entered Nepal from Bardiya border.
The locals got Ghanashyam Chaudhary and Saraswotin Chaudhary of Rajapur-4, who crossed Chaugurji border and arrived Nepal quarantined with the help of the Bardiya Police. The couple had entered skipping the border seal.
Similarly, another businessman who arrived Rajapur crossing the Karnali river is also sent to a quarantine at Amar Shahid Multiple Campus, Rajapur.
There are more than 1,000 Armed Police Force and Nepal Police deployed at the 83-km-long border here.
However, District Administration Office Bardiya has been claiming that there is no chance of letting anyone cross the border as the security is tight over there.
“As the border is strictly monitored, there is no chance for anyone to cross the border from India,” Prem Lal Lamichhane, the Chief District Officer of Bardiya claimed.
