Ministry urges local levels not to hold gatherings

KATHMANDU: As a part of the government’s precaution measures against coronavirus, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has urged all 753 local levels to refrain from organizing big gatherings such as feasts and celebrations.

Issuing an 11-point memorandum as a call for attention to all the local governments, the Ministry has asked the public not to participate in events in order to stop the possible outbreak of Covid-19.

Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Basanta Adhikari said the Ministry has urged all local governments to carry out monitoring by deploying medical teams in the bus parks, cinema halls, party palaces and housing apartments.

Likewise, the Ministry has also directed the concerned bodies to effectively conduct health checkups and screening of those entering into Nepal from key border points.

It also urged the local levels to publicize and issue information regarding infection of COVID-19, its prevention and control, to make easy smooth supply of medicines, masks, sanitizer and daily essentials as well as to make market monitoring and regulation effective by coordinating with bodies concerned.
