Home Secretary Maheshwor Neupane conferred insignia on newly appointed IGP Thakur Prasad Gyawali amidst a program held in the capital on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Gyawali said his focus during his tenure would be working towards winning the hearts of the Nepali people.

He said he would ensure the country’s law and order situation without being influenced by any ideology or pressure.

“My focus would be to ensure a sense of responsibility, security and justice during my tenure as IGP,” he said.

A cabinet meeting appointed Gyawali as the new IGP after outgoing IGP Sarbendra Khanal retired on the 30-year service limit provision on Tuesday.
