Nepal reports six more COVID-19 deaths



KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported six COVID-19 more deaths on Wednesday.

While three succumbed to coronavirus in different hospitals in Lalitpur, one each breathed their last in Saptari, Rupandehi and Dharan hospitals.

A 78-year-old woman of Teku, Kathmandu who was undergoing treatment at KIST Hospital in Lalitpur has died of coronavirus pandemic.

According to the District Health Office, Lalitpur, the septuagenarian breathed her last at KIST Hospital today.

The office has yet to offer details about the death.

Earlier, a woman of 38 and a man of 71 had died late Tuesday night at Patan Hospital and Mediciti Hospital respectively.

Two people died in the course of treatment at Special Coronavirus Hospital at Butwal in Rupandehi district.

The men, aged 25 and 42, who were admitted to the hospital after showing signs of coronavirus, passed away last night.

Two among seven coronavirus patients who were undergoing treatment at ICU succumbed to the virus, said hospital’s Spokesperson Dr Bishnu Gautam.

The 42-year-old man who had been admitted to the hospital on August 9 had been diagnosed with the virus on the same day.

He was being treated after on ventilator after his condition went worse.

Similarly, the other 25-year-old youth also died while undergoing treatment at Special Coronavirus Hospital, said hospital sources.

He had been taken to Special Coronavirus Hospital from Lumbini Provincial Hospital after he showed signs of coronavirus on Tuesday. One of the deceased is from Krishnanagar while the other is from Taulihawa.

Likewise, according to Dr Bishnu Prasad Sharma, Director of Patan Hospital, a 38-year-old woman died while undergoing treatment last night. The woman was admitted to the hospital on August 2 with meningitis. She tested coronavirus positive while at the hospital.

Similarly, a 72-year-old male of Rajbiraj municipality 6, Saptari district died of COVID-19 Wednesday.

Acting Medical Superintendent at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Hospital Dr Ranjit Jha informed that he died while being taken to the hospital on Wednesday.

He was a heart patient, and was suffering from fever and flu-like symptoms for the past one week.

Likewise, a man, 42, died while on ventilator at the Corona Hospital in Butwal last night, also tested positive to COVID-19.
