Former Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet’s father tests positive for COVID-19 posthumously  



KATHMANDU: The father of former Minister for Communication and Information Technology Mohan Bahadur Basnet, who died on Thursday, has tested positive for coronavirus.

Khadga Bahadur Basnet, 84, was confirmed infected with the virus after his swab test result conducted posthumously came out positive on Tuesday, said the Ministry of Health.

Paralysis-ridden Khadga Bahadur had died while undergoing treatment at Manmohan Cardiovascular and Transplant Center of TU Teaching Hospital.

Basnet’s body had been taken to his home district Sindhupalchowk for final rights before his swab sample test result collected after his death came out.

A huge number of people had attended the funeral ceremony of Basnet.

“Around 1,500 people had participated in the funeral procession of Basent,” according to a local.

Meanwhile, District Administration Office, Sindhupalchowk has advised those who went to meet the son who is now mourning over his father’s death to self-isolate until further notice.

Leaders including Amrit Bahadur Bohara, Sher Bahadur Tamang had reached Basnet’s house to see him.

The whole village has been sealed and a medical team is heading for Bahrabise to collect swab samples today.
