82 new cases take Nepal’s COVID-19 count to 16,801



KATHMANDU: A total of 82 cases in the past 24 hours have taken Nepal’s COVID-19 count to 16,801, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population said.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that 3916 samples were tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method in the past 24 hours.

The new cases were detected in Jhapa, Morang, Dhanusa, Sarlahi, Kathmandu, Sindhupalchowk, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Sindhuli, Lalitpur, Solukhumbu, Baglung, Nawalparasi (East), Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Gorkha, Lamjung, Gulmi, Palpa, Dailekh, Rukum (West), Surkhet, Kalikot, Bajhang, Dadeldhura, Kailali and Darchula.

Currently, 8174 are undergoing treatment in isolation, while 23,784 have been quarantined, he said.

Meanwhile, 147 COVID-19 patients were discharged from different hospitals and isolation centers. So far,8589 people have been discharged across the country after recovery.  The recovery rate now stands at 51.1 percent.

So far, 38 persons have lost their lives due to pandemic virus in Nepal.
