Cabinet unveils seven decisions, waives education and health equity fees



KATHMANDU: The government has announced seven key decisions made by the Cabinet, including a full waiver of the education and health equity fees introduced under the Finance Act, 2083.

Making the Cabinet decisions public on Wednesday, Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said the government has appointed High Court Tulsipur Judge Basudev Acharya as chairperson of the Special Court and High Court Surkhet Judge Dipendra Adhikari as chairperson of the Labour Court.

The Cabinet also appointed Shailendra Raj Kunwar as the administrator of the Guthi Sansthan.

According to Pokharel, the government has decided to fully waive parking, landing and navigation fees for scheduled international flights operating from Pokhara International Airport and Gautam Buddha International Airport until the end of Bhadra 2085. Ground handling charges at the two airports will also receive a 50 percent discount.

The Cabinet also endorsed the agreement reached with victims of loan sharking and declared all fraudulent documents related to such cases invalid with effect from Wednesday.

In addition, the government has formed a judicial inquiry committee under former High Court judge Keshab Prasad Bastola to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Ganesh Nepali.

Pokharel said the Cabinet has also decided to fully waive the education equity fee and health equity fee imposed under Section 18(1) of the Finance Act, 2083.
