‘10% budget should be allotted for health sector’

KATHMANDU: The lawmakers of the National Assembly have urged the government to allocate 10 percent of the upcoming fiscal budget 2020/21 for the health sector.

Deliberating his views on the principles and priorities of the appropriation bill for the upcoming fiscal budget in meeting of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament today, lawmaker Narayan Kaji Shrestha stressed that the budget should prioritize the prevention and minimization of the COVID-19 and natural disasters.

Shrestha further said that budget also should focus on agricultural revolution by providing relief to the farmers.

Similarly, Nepali Congress lawmaker Jitendra Narayan Dev said at least 10 percent budget should be allocated for the health sector.

Lawmakers Shekhar Kumar Singh, Beduram Bhusal among others expressed their views on the appropriation bill in the meeting.
