Nepal’s COVID-19 tally hits 120 as 10 more cases reported



KATHMANDU: The number of Coronavirus infection cases has climbed to 120 in Nepal as 10 new cases were reported on Monday morning.

According to Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, 10 persons from Kapilvastu, Yasodhara rural municipality-5 and Buddha Bhumi rural municipality-7 have been infected with coronavirus. All of them are men.

Nine among those infected are  aged 18, 19, 20, 20, 24, 30, 31, 34, 34, while the age of the remaining one is to be established.

Their swabs had been tested at the National public Health Laboratory, Teku.

According to Adhikari the health condition of those infected is normal.

With this, coronavirus cases in Kapilvastu have reached 15 of State 5.

Among the infected, two are from the Buddhabhumi municipality and eight are from the Yashodhara rural municipality-5.

It is learnt that they had returned home covertly from Mumbai of India, recently. Eight youths who had arrived home on May 2 amidst the lockdown stayed in quarantine at the Aniruddha Public Secondary School.

Earlier a total of 62 throat swab samples from the Anirudhha and Pashupati Siksha Mandir quarantine were sent to Kathmandu for the test, said rural municipality health coordinator Jyoti Prakash Dube.

The remaining infected are from Manpur of Buddhabhumi-7 and Dhanakauli of Buddhabhumui-10.

A total of 125 samples collected from quarantine in the Gorusinghe-based Gautam Buddha Multiple Campus were sent to Kathmandu for the test and two results came positive.

There are 216 people in Gorushinge quarantine, said municipality health coordinator Dol Bikram Belbase.
