PM Oli holds talks with Indian PM Modi on COVID-19

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli on Friday spoke to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed the prevailing situation owing to coronavirus pandemic.

Both the Prime Ministers agreed on further consolidating the common fight to tackle the pandemic.

“We also discussed on smooth and continued supply of essentials during the lockdown,” PM Oli has tweeted today.


Meanwhile, Indian PM Modi took to Twitter to inform about the telephonic conversation with PM Oli.

“We discussed the prevailing situation,” Modi twitted appreciating the determination of the people of Nepal to fight this challenge.


“We stand in solidarity with Nepal in our common fight against COVID-19,” PM Modi has said.

Issuing a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said Prime Ministers Oli and Modi discussed about the current situation to combat COVID-19 and agreed to further intensify the ongoing efforts.

In the current context, the two Prime Ministers also agreed to look after the welfare and medical care of the people of both countries currently living in each other’s territory, MoFA said.

The MoFA said that the two Prime Ministers also expressed satisfaction on the smooth supply of essential goods across the border while underlining the need for ensuring its continuity in the present situation.
