Official transferred to DoPM on medical stuff procurement deal

KATHMANDU: Nepal government has transferred the chief accountant of Department of Health Service to the Department of Prison Management.

Keshav Prasai was transferred to Department of Health Services 15 days before. Immediately after his transfer to DoHS, Prasai had shown concerns over the wrong procurement process of health materials smelling foul in the deal.

The deal in which the government was found procuring health materials through OMNI group at the price 10-15 times higher than the market price was cancelled after severe criticism.

Keshav Prasai is transferred to Dillibazar based Department of Prison Management(DoPM) on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Health and Population had issued an order to Department of Health to publish tender notice for the procurement health materials worth 402.2 million rupees. Department of Health had sought opinion of account department under the same ministry.

Citing that the Council of Ministry had already decided to procure it through Government to Government (GtoG) method, undersecretary Prasai led department of account had advised government not initiate another tender for the same.
