44 confirmed COVID-19 in India

NEW DELHI: A total of 44 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in India as on March 9, Indian media reports have said.

These cases have been reported from Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, J&K, and Ladakh.

A three-year-old child in Kerala’s Ernakulam district has also been tested positive for COVID-19.

On March 8, five people tested positive for COVID-19 in Kerala.

The coronavirus outbreak has alarmed health officials in India with new cases being reported from several states over the past two weeks.

Kerala was the first Indian state to report a positive coronavirus case.

The local government has declared a state emergency on February 3.

Over 3,400 people suspected to have come in contact with them were put in quarantines in India.

The Indian Council of Medical Research said some 5,066 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in India as of March 9.
