KATHMANDU: Amid speculations that the government would appoint a new Inspector General of Police (IGP), a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday failed to decide on the next IGP.

The cabinet will set again on Tuesday to select a new IGP as the current IGP Sarbendra Khanal is retiring tomorrow.

The government should appoint a new IGP from among the current DIGs.

DIGs Thakur Gyawali, Surya Upadhyaya and Tarani Prasad Lamsal are in the race for the post of IGP.
