10 die as bus comes in contact with high voltage wire in India



KATHMANDU: As many as 10 people died while over 30 sustained injuries after a passenger bus they were traveling by came into contact with a high voltage wire in Ganjam district of Odisha State of India.

Three children and three women are among those electrocuted to death after their bus suddenly happend to touch an over-hanging 11KV live transmission wire, www.hindustantimes.com quoted a police official as saying.

Meanwhile, locals in Melpaturu alleged that the transmission wire was sagging for the last several days and the distribution company did not pay heed to it despite their repeated requests.

A total of 43 people were traveling in the ill-fated bus. According to the reports, they were heading to attend a function in Sikharada village of Ganjam’s Golanthara area from Dangulupadu.
