Nepal Airlines’ wide-body being sent to evacuate Nepalis from Wuhan

KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal has made preparations to send Wide Body of Nepal Airlines (A330) for the evacuation of Nepalis from Wuhan, China.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had directed to rescue Nepalis living in Wuhan amid the outbreak of novel coronavirus.

The airplane is set to fly to Wuhan on February 15, Friday, said Suresh Acharya, Information Officer of Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA).

Acharya, however, said that the Nepalis could be evacuated earlier, following the direction of the government.

A committee involving authorities of MoCTCA and representatives of Nepal Airlines has been formed to rescue Nepali nationals residing at the epidemic-prone zone in China.

The government has been preparing to rescue around 180 Nepalis in coordination with the Embassy of Nepal at Beijing.

Nepali students residing in Wuhan have been requesting the government for their timely evacuation.
